EXHIBIT DESIGN — Museums and cultural institutions

:: Our flag was still there at

the 9/11 Memorial & Museum

  • Client: 9/11 Museum & Memorial

  • Role: Lead Exhibition Designer

    Project Overview:

Developed for the 250th anniversary of the United States, Our Flag Was Still There was a flags installation at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum commemorating the enduring significance of the American flag in the aftermath of September 11.

Design Approach & Execution

As design lead on the project, I developed a visual and spatial approach that connected the stories surrounding the American flag to the physical objects on display. Woven panels referenced the material construction of the individual flags, while layered graphics introduced depth and dimension. In the introductory panel, the title was cut out to reveal the fabric beneath, creating a tactile connection between the exhibition's storytelling referencing untold layers and the materiality of the flags.

I led concept development and presented proposals, collaborating with content, curatorial, and conservation teams to translate the project's commemorative goals into a cohesive installation. My work spanned 2D and 3D design, environmental graphics, renderings, case layouts, and detailed fabrication documentation through to on-site installation.
